NEC Nijmegen vs RKC Waalwijk (By: Dajkula)
NEC welcomes RKC Waalwijk in the first playoff match for the promotion to the Eredivisie. Both have equal chances I guess but the host will be favorites today. NEC finished 9`th in the regular with RKC finishing just above them with a point more.
Things certainly started going for the better when the trio of coaches - Ron de Groot, Adrie Bogers, and Rogier Meijer took over and NEC went on a streak. They won 5 of the last 6 matches and scored plenty of goals. Even the leaders Twente were demolished with 4:0. In the last round, they played a draw with MVV conceding in the last seconds. They were in the playoff without winning that match. The offense has been outstanding lately with the striker Druijf being on an unstoppable run. He has 29 this season.
NEC has 10-5-4 at home this season and do much better than away. They are also the second-best home scoring side. Certainly, they have a lot going for them today.
RKC Waalwijk had a pretty turbulent season but they gave their best in the final stages. They are quite an unpredictable side and the results show it well. You couldn`t really catch them by the head or tail. Away from home, they have 9-1-9 and they go from epic to abysmal. They managed to win over Eagles 4:1 but generally they faired the best against the weak sides. Against the top opponents, they regularly lost. Just a few weeks ago they lost away to NEC with a 2:1 score.
These are the probable lineups:
NEC: Branderhorst; Joppen, Bossaerts, Kvida, Labylle; Bruijn, Ndayishimiye, Dijkstra; Okita, Druijf, Wolters
Waalwijk: Vaessen; Gaari, Meulensteen, Drost, Quasten; Tahiri, Spierings, Rienstra; Seys, Maatsen, Hansson
I have to go with the home win today.
