Sydney FC vs Melbourne City (By: Dajkula)
Sydney FC hosts Melbourne City in quite an important match of the 17`th round of the A league. Sydney is ranked third with 32 points while City is fifth with 27 points. The season is heating up and with 10 or so matches to play, every team is chasing the final series. If the play-off can be avoided the teams have to be placed 1 or 2. Sydney has good chances as they were in good form lately but that all came to an end against their nemesis Melbourne Victory. They lost 2:1 but they had chances to at least take a draw. It was a bit unfortunate.
Sydney has 5-0-2 at home so far with 14:9 gd. and they have struggled to keep the net clean. Just a couple of times in their last 12 matches they haven`t conceded. There are no worries in the attack, however, they brought in a new player to add a bit more bite. Reza Ghoochannehad, who played in Heerenveen, and scored a lot, will be most welcomed.
Melbourne City needs to pick up the pace because if they lose this they will be destined for the play-off. They have 8-3-5 all together and not such good form recently. They lost away to Wellington and Central Coast Mariners, the worst team of the league. At home they won over Western Sydney 4:3 but with a bit of luck and a man more for the last half an hour. With 1 win from the last 4, City will have to raise their game a lot because beating Sydney is a very tall order. City doesn`t have a prominent striker and that is their big concern. They just don`t score enough goals and their key striker Fornaroli has been absent for a long time.
Sydney won their last 4 home games and had very fond memories of Melbourne City. They have beaten them in the last 7 times. They even covered the spread in 6 of those matches.
Sydney doesn`t have an optimum composition for this match as out are Zullo (def.16-1), Caceres (mid.4-0), De Jong (mid.11-3), Buhagiar (att.0-0), Zuvela (mid.0-0).
City misses Fornaroli(att.4-1).
Predicted line-up (4-4-2): Redmayne; Calver, Wilkinson, Warland, Grant; Retre, Brillante, O'Neill, Ninkovic; Le Fondre, Ghoochannejhad
Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Galekovic; Delbridge, Schenkeveld, Good, Jamieson; Griffiths, Baccus; McGree, Brattan, Berenguer; De Laet.
I do expect another Sydney win today.
