Leuven vs Mons

13th round of Belgium Pro League. Leuven tried a lot but failed to avoid the defeat in the away match against Mechelen (4:2). Although they were behind to the score twice, they managed to equalize, but a penalty against them changed the game in Mechelen's favor.

The harvest of points for Leuven in the league is disappointing so far and there is speculations that they will sack their coach in case of new negative results in the next two games against Mons and Lierse. Leuven has significant problems with injuries ahead of tonight's game.

Key defender Robson (12 games), key attacking midfielder Mohamed Messoudi (12 games, 2 goals), main left back Kenny Thompson (9 games) and main goalkeeper Logan Bailly (12 games) are all out of the game for various reasons, while defensive midfielder Kenneth van Goethem (9 games), defensive midfielder Evariste Ngolok (12 games, 5 goals) and defender Ludovic Buysens (10 games) are all in doubt. Defender Wim Raymaekers and winger Thomas Azevedo are long term injured.

At least there is no problems in attack, so they will play with their usual 4-3-3. Marvin Ogunjimi (10 games), Bjorn Ruytinx (8 games, 4 goals) and Jovan Kostovski (6 games, 2 goals) will play in front line.

Mons is still without a win in the league, after another failure in the home match against Kortrijk where they lost with the score of 0:1. They could have achieved the point of the draw as the game was balanced, while the goal they accepted in the end of the first half came from a terrible mistake of their keeper.

Mons is facing defensive problems to their squad too. Main right back Yuval Spungin (7 games), key defender Gregory Lorenzi (7 games, 1 goal), regular defensive midfielder Flavien Le Postollec (7 games) and central defender Peter Franquart (3 games) are all out of the game. Good news in front line as striker Steve Beleck (5 games, 1 goal) is back to the squad (was training with second team for disciplinary reasons).

Leuven have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 7 matches against Mons in all competitions.
Mons have scored at least 2 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches against Leuven in all competitions.

Leuven will play with many important absences in defense, while Mons shows signs of recent improvement although they still do not have a single win to the league. I guess that both teams will score tonight and generally we will see a fast paced and open game.
