Sampdoria vs Roma
Even though their results weren't that impression during the preparation period, especially not in the matches right before the season started, players of Sampdoria improved and are showing really decent face for now in the competitive season. They firstly started it with an easy victory in Italian Cup winning over Foggia 3:0, but the side also managed to get all six points out of first two rounds.
They firstly won at home over newly promoted signed Benevento with a 2:1 result which was fully expected, but the team then impressed a lot in a away game against Fiorentina before the international break also taking a 2:1 victory. Players of Viola had more of the ball possession and chances created, but it simply was a better day for the visitors who took the double lead in the first halftime thanks to goals from Caprari and Quagliarella (within three minutes), while the hosts had hard time replying back.
Badelj did reduce in 50th minute and despite their attacks, visitors took all three points with some heavy defending towards the end of the game. The team is now one of five to have both victories early in the season.
They should be playing in 4-3-1-2 formation with Quagliarella and Caprari in attack, plus Ramirez as central offensive midfielder. Goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano is long term absentee without playing matches this season, while injured are also defender Dodo (also didn't play) and midfielder Edgar Barreto (1/0).
Roma, on the other side, must be said isn't looking very well early in the season, as neither they did during the friendly matches just before the start of it. They won in the season opener against Atalanta, with a goal being scored by Kolarov from the free-kick in 31st minute, while they spent the rest of the match mostly defending and it's a real wonder how the team from Bergamo didn't take a point at least in that one.
In the second round they played against probably even more difficult opponent, as the side welcomed Inter and stood defeated with a 1:3 result. Even though they opened up the game well and took the lead in fifteenth minute via Dzeko, the side once again didn't impress much, didn't make many important things in attack and got outplayed towards the end of the game since Icardi firstly equalized in 67th minute, then reverted the scoreline completely ten minutes later while Vecino sealed the victory for the visiting team in 87th minute.
Visitors are set to play in their usual 4-3-3 formation with Defrel and Perotti most likely on the wings, plus Dzeko as central striker. Defender Emerson should be only injury worry for this one, without playing so far this season anyway.
- Roma have scored at least 2 goals in their last 4 matches against Sampdoria.
Roma is obviously having problems early in the season, but they should improve slowly. Anyway, it seems that they do score with ease, not needing a lot chances, while the players of Sampdoria surely come into this match with improved morale and looking for continuation of their good form. Both teams to score and more than just couple of goals look like a perfect choice for these two teams.
