Empoli vs Milan
Empoli got easily outplayed by Fiorentina at home last Sunday evening, suffering one the heaviest defeats in few years at home in a 0:4 loss. However, it needs to be said that the home team wasn't without a chance in front of opponents goal in an equally open game and that the final result might be a bit harsh to the players of Empoli.
Still, there's no doubt that Viola completely deserved the victory behaving as a much more mature side, that always knew what to do with the ball to their feet. Bernardeschi scored the opening goal in 27th minute, while Ilicic doubled up the lead from penalty spot in 47th minute. Everything was easier from that moment on, while the visitors scored two more, in 61st via Bernardeschi and six minutes later again via Ilicic. Empoli failed to build up after their victory away to Pescara in previous round, being now just above the red zone placed sides with ten points earned, three more than relegating placed Pescara.
Empoli should be playing in 4-3-1-2 formation with Pucciarelli and Maccarone as forwards. Right full back Vincent Laurini (5/0) is injured, as well as forward Levan Mchedlidze (3/0).
Even though they had the lead twice during the match and that they got leveled up in second minute of injury time, players of Milan still can feel satisfied with a point taken at home in the local derby against Inter last time out. If one of the teams was to deserve more, than it surely would be Inter, since their players controlled the ball much more and created more chances using lot's of passes.
Suso brought the home team into the lead in 42nd minute, while Candreva equalized at the start of the second halftime just to see Suso scoring again five minutes later. Till the end of the match players of Inter were trying to equalize which they finally did during additional time thanks to Perisic getting their point more than deservedly. Milan remained undefeated in last three matches and got leveled up now at the second position at the table with Roma, being five points behind leaders from Juventus, but also only two above sixth placed Napoli for example.
Visitors should be playing in 4-3-3 formation with Suso and Niang on the wings plus Lapadula as central striker. Defender Alessio Romagnoli will be back after skipping the derby game. Injured remain midfielder Riccardo Montolivo (7/0), right full back Davide Calabri (4/0) and forward Carlos Bacca (13/6).
Milan is a favorite here even though they are missing their best striker. Defensive tasks shouldn't be much of a problem for them, while the team surely has enough quality to break the opponent more than once. All the value is with the away victory in my eyes.
