Sochaux vs Laval

After a run of very poor performances and negative results, six matches overall without a victory in all competitions, Sochaux finally replied with much better performance and even better result, as the team came from a narrow 1:0 victory away from home against Reims last weekend.

Only goal was scored in 13th minute via Andriatsima, with the game itself being pretty much balanced one, while the players of Sochaux stood well in the defense for the most of the time and didn't have a lot of problem keeping the lead. Sochaux is now at eight position, but having only four points less than play-off placed Lens and have every reason to go stronger into the promotional battle in case they get back for good on the positive run.

Sochaux will miss goalkeeper Olivier Werner (4/0), but also defender Adolphe Teikeu (15/1), midfielder Marco Ilaimaharitra (16/0) and forwards Goran Karanovic (9/2) and Thomas Robinet (18/1) due various injury problems.

Laval, on the other side, comes from their fourth consecutive match without a victory last weekend, as the team took only a point in a home draw against Red Star in a 1:1 result. They looked like close favorites to win the three pointer before the match and even took the lead in 16th minute via Monfray, but the game itself turned out to be more complicated than they firstly thought.

However, it must be said that Laval somehow looked better on the field, but one more time their defensive lineup proved not to be a reliable one, as the guests leveled up the result in 80th minute with a goal from Souza, in one of their rare chances on that day. The team now stands second from the bottom at the table, with twenty-three points earned so far, which is just two less than safely placed Auxerre. With 2-5-6 run away from home, it's hard to expect them getting more but stealing a point in some version.

Visitors are missing goalkeeper Maxime Hautbois (11/0), defenders Malik Couturier (4/0), Erwan Quintin (15/0), midfielders Chris Malonga (10/0) and Modibo Dembele (12/0), plus forwards Yven Moyo (3/0) and Julien Viale (3/0).

Laval is far away from good and reliable form, while away from home they remain less than mediocre side. Sochaux has much more of individual quality and can prevail here easy with the help of their fans and coming from a morale boosting victory that brought them back to positive ways.
