Derby vs Hull City
Friday night action for me in a game that will see Derby County host Hull City in a Championship clash. The game will be played at Pride Park and will kick off at 19:45 UK time. The hosts head into the clash tomorrow in 12th in the league, just 7 points from their first 5 games. The home side have won 2 games, drawn 1 and lost 2, scoring just 5 goals and conceding 7.
Many expected Derby to mount a serious challenge for promotion this season. One of the reasons for this is manager Gary Rowett. He's done very well in management at all clubs he has been to, Burton and Birmingham. Derby for me have a great squad and are definitely capable of getting results in this league. They have recently brought in one of the leagues top strikers in Sam Winnall! He has joined on loan from Sheffield Wednesday after his recent move from local rivals Barnlsley hasn't panned out as he would have expected.
A striker that scores goals is just what Derby needed in my opinion. Winnall will help massively and I expect him to start tomorrow night also. Derby will want to forget their last game vs Sheffield United, the game ended 3-1 in favour of the Yorkshire side, however, the scoreline didn't reflect the performance. Derby made 3 huge mistakes and as a result conceded goals in all 3 mistakes! Billy Sharpe scored two of the easiest goals of his career. Prior to this game Derby won 3 games in a row vs PNE, Bolton and Grimsby (cup game).
The visitors for the game are Hull City, they were many peoples favourites to go straight back to the premier league, however, they have brought in a manager who not many people from England know much about (Leonid Slutsky). I know he has managed Russia and CSKA, however, I'm not sure he's the right man for this job, I may be wrong.
Hull do have players capable of scoring goals, however, I still think they are liable in defence. They have sold a few top players to premiership clubs and I think the fans are losing faith in the club. Hull lie in 8th in the table, same points as Derby, however, their goal difference is better. They have scored 12 goals from 5 games!
Hull lost 3 games in a row before their 4-0 thrashing of Bolton. However, what stands out to me is the free flowing football they play. 4 out of their first 5 games has seen BTTS and I expect this to be a close game too, I'll be backing BTTS at a price of 1.91 with William Hill. Good Luck all.
