St Truiden vs Standard
After starting victory over Gent which was surely a bit unexpected for St Truiden, the team didn't manage to build up and improve in previous one, coming from a 2:0 defeat away to Zulte Waregem last Saturday evening. It was a deserved victory for Waregem, however must be said that the home team wasn't much better, but the major fact happened in 53rd minute when the players of St Truiden were left playing with ten man when their defender Dussaut had to leave the field due to red card received.
It was easier for Waregem from then on, as they opened the scoreline in 56th minute via Heylen, but also to seal the victory from the penalty kick taken by Leya in 82nd. They stood well in the defense overall, but playing with a man less was simply too much this time. The side also played well during the friendly matches, so the expectations aren't low for this season, as the team aims to surprise and try to fight for the European exit if possible.
They won't be able to count at forward Babacar Gueye (2/0) who should be out due leg injury. Doubtful for this match are forwards Igor Vetokele (1/1), Cristian Ceballos (2/2), left back Fabien Antunes (no performance so far) and central defender Sergio Ayala (also didn't perform so far). Right back Damien Dussaut (2/0) is suspended now for this one.
Standard Liege, on the otehr hand, improved after their starting point taken away to KV Mechelen (1:1 draw), with a 2:1 victory over Genk last Friday evening. However, victory was far from easy, since the players of Genk took the lead in 36th minute with a goal from Schrijvers and looked way better than the players of Standard.
However, hosts replied with much more determined performance in the second halftime and managed to revert the scoreline quite early into the second halftime, thanks to goals from Junior in 48th and M'Poku in 63rd minute. No doubt that the team aims European exit this season and a victory here is surely a target.
Right back Dimitri Lavalee is doutbful for this one due knee injury.
Standard remains more quality side and is closer to get the victory, however St Truiden looked really well so far, especially in the offense and I have no doubt that they will make a hell of the game for the visiting side even though they have couple of doubtful players ahead the clash.
