FC Eindhoven vs NEC Nijmegen
Knock out game for the round of 32 of the Dutch Cup.
FC Eindhoven did not succeed in the home match against Excelsior Rotterdam last weekend and lost with the score of 1:3. With this result their run of three matches without a defeat stopped, while they had several problems on opponents counterattacks according to the match reports.
Last season FC Eindhoven dissapointed but this season they are clearly improved and stands high to the league table. They are scoring with ease but they surely lack of stability and confidence in defense, as they have received at least two goals in five of their last six matches.
Tonight FC Eindhoven will miss lot of key players. Main defender Chiro N'toko (10 games, 3 goals), main left back Maxime Gunst (9 games), valuable midfielder Adreano van den Driest (5 games), young striker Anthony van den Hurk (12 games, 4 goals) and striker Josemar Makiavala (7 games, 4 goals) will all miss tonight's game.
NEC Nijmegen finally celebrated their first win in the league, beating Heerenveen at home with the score of 2:1. They totally exploited against the poor presence of Heerenveen and created lot of opportunities to score in a fast game, while Heerenveen only managed to reduce the score five minutes before full time.
Surely this result is a huge relief for NEC Nijmegen and a fair result that should come earlier, as they were not that bad to the draw away to Heracles (1:1) and to the defeat away to Go Ahead Eagles (4:3). They are surely improved in comparison with the start of the season and this result over Heerenveen will boost their morale for the following games.
Valuable right winger Christoph Hemlein (10 games, 3 goals) is back to the main eleven after suspension, while midfielder Samuel Stefanik (4 games, 2 goals) will miss the game due to injury.
With most of scorers of FC Eindhoven out of this game and with NEC Nijmegen in high morale after their first win in the league, i cannot expect something else than the away win for this game. I think that this game comes in the ideal time for NEC Nijmegen.
