Club Brugge vs Genk
Club Brugge has suffered their first defeat in the championship as they lost away to Kortrijk with heavy 4:1 result. They stood very early in the game with a player less, already in 37th minute, but this isn't a fact that should justify their very poor image in whole ninety minutes. With a 8-2-1 record early in the season, team still stands second in the league and won't be too damaged with their setback, as Standard also drew in last round.
Coach Michel Preud'homme was also expelled during the game and will have to attend today's game from the stands. This defeat was their first setback after six consecutive victories, while the atmosphere shouldn't be changed much. Their goal remains getting the Champions League ticket and trying to challenge for the title for as long as possible. Important striker de Sutter (11/3) is also suspended for today's game, while left back Bolingoli-Mbombo (7/1) is also outside, same as midfielder Blondel (2/0) and central defender Larsen who is without performance this season. On the bright side, return of winger Lestien (10/5) is very important for the home side, while right back Hogli (9/1) is also available after overcoming some problems.
Genk is coming from a 1:1 draw at home against Rapid Vienna as a part of the third round of Europa League group stage. Home side opened the scoring in 21st minute with a goal from midfielder Gorius, but the Austrians were much more agile over the field and deserved their equalizer eight minutes before the full time whistle.
After this game, team from Belgium has two victories and a draw being still the first candidates to finish at the top of the group although they could have secured the participation in the next stage in case they managed to win over Rapid. In any way, their season has started in a good way, as the team also counts 7-2-2 record in the league and are having three consecutive victories in domestic league. Coming from a 4:0 victory over Lierse last weekend, the team will surely want to continue the season with another win, or at least to stay undefeated. Striker Mboyo (5/3) remains outside with an injury and is the only really important absentee for the guests. Attack will be led by De Ceulaer and Vossen.
With the way both teams are playing, everything except bunch of a goals in both nets would be a huge surprise while the odds remained decent.
