France vs Special by 20legend
This bet is about if France will score more than 4.5 goals over their three games in the group stage. Their opponents will be England, Ukraine and Sweden. France must be looked up on as favourites here. England is the closest enemy, but they are unfortunately struggling with many injuries. Ukraine is believed to be the weakest link in this group, having most of their players from their own domestic league, and done bad in their recent friendly matches against Turkey (0-2 loss) and Austria (3-2 loss). Sweden could be the joker here and I think it will stand between them and England to get the vital 2nd place in this group.
France went through their qualifying with 6-3-1 and 15-4 on goal difference. After the players horrific behaviour at the World Cup 2010, their new coach, Laurent Blanc, have brought some new believe and good attacking football into France. They have a very strong team with many possible goalscorers. Karim Benzema is their biggest weapon, but also Franc Ribery will be very important. In addition to them we also have Samir Nasri, Florent Malouda, Olivier Giroud and Jeremy Menez, that also can provide goals or important assists.
Both Benzema (Real Madrid) and Ribery (Bayern Munich) had fantastic seasons this year. Benzema scored 21 goals in 34 games in La Liga, while he contributed with 3 goals in 7 games for France in the qualification. Ribery made 12 goals in Bundesliga, but provided many assists and is in top shape at the moment. France’ second striker Olivier Giroud also had a marvellous season by scoring 21 goals in 36 games for Montpellier and leading them to the Ligue 1-title. Benzema will be chosen ahead of Giroud most likely, but Giroud surely can provide goals when he gets the chance.
France has got so many offensive players that can provide goals that I believe they will score over 4.5 goals in the group stage. Their must-win-match will be against Ukraine and it is here France can dominate mostly by scoring 2-3 goals or maybe more. England will probably be very difficult too cut through under the leadership of Roy Hodgson, but I think that France will score at least 1 goal. They will also be favourites against Sweden, in a game which can be crucial in order to win the group, and with Sweden’s slow centre-backs, it should be possible to score 1 or 2 goals here also. I can see France scoring 5-7 goals, but especially Benzema and Ribery must deliver goals if it is going to be possible. The amount of goals against Ukraine will be decisive, but I have good believe in this one.
