Chelsea vs Newcastle by Jamesington

After a very positive start to the month which saw my picks in profit the last weeks has seen a deterioration in performance due to some disappointing and surprising results so for the next few days I will be implementing a high input, positive output strategy requiring a slightly more commited staking plan for a potentially very profitable return. Some of the stakes will be high at high odds as they seem to be prices which do not fairly reflect the likelihood of an outcome and therefore I feel we should take advantage of the prices. Hopefully after a few days of this staking plan we will be back in positive figures and able to start back on a more placid, calm staking plan.

An 'interest' bet in this match first off when looking at Newcastle's potential goalscorers. Striker Leon Best has been ruled out through injury for sometime, Kevin Nolan is now sidelined after undergoing ankle surgery and Stephen Ireland (who in his short time on the park in each appearance always seemed to create a chance) has gone back to Villa after injury ended his chances of a first goal for the club. This leaves Shola Ameobi, Nile Ranger and Peter Lovenkrands as the only fit goalscorers in the squad. None of these has hit double figures this season - indeed Ranger has found the net only once. So if Newcastle are going to score we might expect a goal to come from elsewhere in the side and that leaves me looking at the defence with Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini probably the most likely candidates to score from set-pieces out of every player in the side. From set plays, Taylor and his Argentinian partner will be incredibly dangerous and Steven Taylor loves to score a goal or two.

I think the odds on these players to net 'at anytime' in the match are massive, particularly given that the match means approximately nothing to either side, Chelsea are assured of second place (barring a major slip up) and Newcastle will finish in mid-table. Throw in Jose Enrique to the mix - the forward thinking Spanish left-back and we have quite a solid possibility of a goal with each player paying out at least 20 points for every point staked.

Due to the aforementioned injury problems and lack of a real goalscorer Newcastle are probably unlikely to win this match (watch them now win 4-3 in a thriller!!) so I fancy Chelsea to net a few and get a fairly easy victory, cementing second spot. Hell, even Fernando Torres might get a goal! As the odds on a home win are fairly poor value, take the OVER 3.5 GOALS outcome at odds of 2.3 with Unibet as Chelsea are the third highest home scorers in the league behind Manchester and (oddly) Newcastle United.
