Barcelona vs Arsenal by Jamesington

Arsenal go to Camp Nou having won the first leg of this tie by two goals to one. This means that, unless they win 1-0, Barcelona must win by more than one goal to qualify for the next round in 90 minutes.

Since the teams met at the Emirates Stadium the English club's form has dropped terribly. Arsenal only managed a draw in the FA Cup against lowly League One side Leyton Orient before scraping a 1-0 win against Stoke in the Premiership. Today they lost 2-1 against relegation battling Birmingham City - not only did they lose, they were outplayed.

I feel this defeat in the Carling Cup Final - a match they had probably already marked down as a win - will be a serious psychological blow for the Arsenal team and that they will find it tough when Barcelona inevitably come flying out at them in Spain.

In last year's Champions League Arsenal were still in the tie at the start of the second leg having recovered from two goals down to tie 2 all (this year they were behind and recovered to 2-2. In last year's match Barcelona came out (Messi in particular) feeling as if an injustice had been done in the first tie and simply destroyed Arsenal, despite Nicklas Bendtner's early goal, winning 4-1.

We could easily see a similar result here. Look for Messi to score and Barcelona to romp home and qualify.
