Florida Panthers vs Detroit by 20legend

The Florida Panthers welcome the Detroit Red Wings tonight, and that is quite special. The teams haven't met each other since Florida's 2-1 victory on November 20, 2009.

The Pathers are on their way sailing out of the playoff race in the East, with only 2 victorys on their last 6 matches. With 2-0-4 form, the Panthers have to start getting more points to stay in the playoff race.

The Panthers lost again on Tuesday against Philadelphia Flyers, mostly because of their slow start (0-2, 1.period - 0-1, 2.period) and didn't wake up until the final period (2-1), but then it was all to late. Their captain, Bryan McCabe could be back from injury.

Dmitry Kulikov: Is expected back next week.

Steve Bernier: Flu-symptoms.

Detroit Red Wings has gone from struggling form to marvelous form in their recent matches with 4-0-2 in their past six games. They've scored fantastic 16 goals in the recent three matches and are looking unstopable when it comes to scoring goals. In the other end, their goalie Jimmy Howard saved 86 of 91 shots in the same three matches.

Their centre, Pavel Datsuyk has been very good since returning from injury and has much of the glory for the teams form. Henrik Zetterberg has also been really good so far and is the Red Wings' leading scorer. Defenseman Brad Stuart is set to return for the Wings tonight.

Injuries: Forwards: Valtteri Filppula, Mike Modano. Goalkeeper Chris Osgood.

I think Detrioit will continue their very impressive form against a more struggling Panthers side. Even if the Panthers have to win, I can't see that its going to happend tonight at the BankAtlantic Center. The home advantage are going to have less value for the Panthers, as the Detroit fans are figuring to do the same thing as in Tampa on Thursday, by meeting up in huge numbers to support their in-form Wings!
