Bolton vs Wigan by Jamesington

Bolton had been on an incredibly good run of form until they lost against Chelsea and Liverpool in consecutive matches. Despite the results in these matches they still played very well and were unfortunate not to pick up any points.

Wigan, on the other hand, have been picking up points here and there without ever playing particularly well. Actually, that is not strictly correct. Charles N'Zogbia has been outstanding! However, he is suspended for this match and that is a major blow to his team.

Bolton Wanderers, at home, have won four of their last five matches (Drawing the other against Blackpool). They have scored fifteen goals in this time, including four against Spurs and five against Newcastle. They do not concede many either. With this in mind I would back Bolton minus a goal, as I feel they are strong enough in both and attack and defence to outclass Wigan on Wednesday evening.

Wigan without their key player N'Zogbia looked fairly ordinary against Newcastle at the weekend and I don't expect them to improve on that performance away from home. They are also missing goalkeeper Al-Habsi as he is on loan from Bolton! They will therefore be handing 38-year-old Mike Pollitt his first start of the Premier League season.

Bolton have defender Paul Robinson back from suspension while Steinsson is doubtful, this shouldn't affect the team to much and I am confident they will go on to win.

If you are looking for a more certain bet, back Bolton just to win at 1.73 (available generally) but I feel they should be able to win even with the handicap for a greater return.
