Gulbis vs Monaco by Beatle
I really don't see how this slow claycourter can compete with fast hugeserver Ernests. Erno Gumy is making really great progress together with Ernie and I expect this match to be the first one in this season when Ernests will win two matches b2b at the same singles event.
Odds will drop down as any of those who saw the Stepanek - Gulbis match will tell you what he thinks about Gulbis, all those Japanese fans and supporters and surely, about Japanese commentators :)
This match will be played on Court Nr. 1 not before 10.30 cet and I don't think we will be able to see it live, even though it will be no problem for Gulbis to show his best play once again.
Gulbis is just great, he didn't lose a single serve against Tsonga, still he lost the match. Against Radek he had 2 break points and converted both of them. In the first set Radek had 3 break points at Gulbis's serve. However, Ernie managed to fire 4 b2b huge serves and he fought the game back.
Ernie is becoming known in Asia because of his style. He gathered hungreds of new fans there after a single match against chech. His ranking doesn't represent the real situation. In his interview today after a great win over Radek Gulbis said that his primary target now is to reach top-10 in next two years. I was surprised when I read these words, but than I just realised that his new coach is changing him. He is now more serious about playing tennis and playing it with high discipline and responsibility. This curse must end sometime and he knows it.
Some words about stats...
It's 1:0 in favour of Monaco h2h but the only match was played in 2007. It was even before the unknown boy named Ernests Gulbis eliminated Moya and Robredo in US Open 2007. It was even before great 2008 and it was before Gulbis won Djokovic at the start of 2009. Then, he was just a kid and clay has never been his favourite surface. Monaco won 7:6 3:6 6:4. Tomorrow, he stands no chance against very motivated, self-confident and powerful mature guy named..Ernests Gulbis.
You may find this bet too-emotional but I really describe the current situation. I will bet with max stakes on Gulbis ( I rarely pick with 10 points ) not because I want him to win. Just because he's miles better than Monaco.
Best of Luck !
