Bears vs Bills by Lloyds
The Chicago Bears will open their season at home against the Buffalo Bills. Both teams had a fluctuating preseason but there is no doubt that Chicago is the favorite here. The Bears disappointed, yet again, last season when they failed to reach the postseason after losing the last match at home to their division rivals, Green Bay. Now they have the same goal and that is capturing the first spot in the NFC North. In the offseason, Chicago extended the contract of their starting quarterback, Jay Cutler, which means he is expected to deliver this time. In the postseason Chicago were 2-2 but when playing at Solider Field they are a very tough team to beat. During the offseason they acquired some good defensive players, such as Jarred Allen (defensive tackle) who came from Minnesota Vikings. Also they brought new faces on the strong and full safety position in Ryan Mundy and Danny McCray. This new improved defense shouldn't have problems against the Buffalo offense, led by quarterback EJ Manuel who didn't play so well in his rookie season. The Bills are setting the stage again for another disappointing season and poor performances in the postseason (1-3) didn't sit well with the fans. As for the offense of Chicago, they are far more superior than Buffalo's. The Bears have one of the best receivers in the league, Brandon Marshall, who is ready for another great season. Marshall averaged 1295 receiving yards in 2013, scoring 12 touchdowns in the process. Also, Chicago have a potent running game which is led by Matt Forte, who scored the most touchdowns along with Marshall on the Bears squad (9 touchdowns). In 2013 Forte had the best season of his career in terms of running yards (1339 yds), thereby breaking his previous best 1238 yards from the 2008 season.
The Bears are eager to start with a win and possibly gain a one game lead ahead of Packers already in week 1. Chicago's defense is better but it's not fully reliable. However, against the inferior Buffalo they won't have problems. The Bears cannot allow a surprise in this match and that's why I expect Cutler going on fire along with Marshall and Forte who will tear up Bills' defense into shreds.
