Espanyol vs Sevilla by Mijkel
Both teams started their La Liga campaign with a 1-1 draw. Espanyol drew away to Almeria. Their wingback Arbilla got a red card on the 33th minute and Almeria went ahead on 54’ but Espanyol managed to equalise in the dying minutes. Espanyol was 5-7-5 at home matches last season. They haven’t made any big transfers and in a large part their team remains the same as last season. Espanyol will mis Arbilla through suspension and Hector Moreno and Felipe Caicedo through injuries.
Sevilla were kept to a draw at home by Valencia. A red card was given to Valencia’s Rodrigo de Paul on the 66th but much like Espanyol, Valencia managed to equalise before the end. Sevilla has been more active on the transfermarket. They sold Rakitic to Barcelona and Moreno to Liverpool, also defender Fazio to Tottenham. They also don’t have Marin anymore who was on loan from Chelsea last season. Sevilla brought in couple players, Ever Banega from Valencia and Gerard Deulofeu on loan from Barcelona being the most notable.
Sevilla was 5-7-5 away last season. Sevilla is missing Kevin Gameiro and goalkeeper Beto who was substituted in the first half last match.
Recent H2H speaks in the favour of Sevilla, who remains unbeaten in their previous 10 meetings. Espanyol is treated as a favourite here, but I feel this shouldn't be the case.
