Ward vs P.Henri Mathieu by Serialtips

Tennis ATP, Cincinnati (hard)

Final Round of Qualifications

James Ward (150th) just did a nice performance on the previous round by beating Kamke while Paul-Henri Mathieu (87th) needed 3 sets to beat a local player.

Even so, I think that Mathieu is a level over Ward and that we will beat him especially because he is much solid on his baseline than Ward who isn't really able to hold long exchanges when there is intensity.

I am not worry by his 3 sets's match yesterday because it was his comeback after his retirement in Bastad one month ago, plus it was simply his first match on hard on the summer, so that's logic that he slightly struggled, but now I expect him to increase his level for his second match.

Mathieu is always fully motivated for big tournaments such as those Masters 1000, besides this season, he did qualifications too in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Monte-Carlo (so others Masters 1000) and always succeeded to pass it and then entered final table.

Interesting thing is that he already met Ward on those qualifications, indeed it was on hard court of Indian Wells, so similar conditions than today, and Mathieu won very easily 6-2 6-3.

I am not sure that he can win with the same result, but I am convinced that he will be the winner at the end and then enter the final table.

So my bet is a win of Paul-Henri Mathieu.
