LASK Linz vs Kapfenberg by Goleador
Gameday 1: LASK Linz - SV Kapfenberg
In this match the promoted team from Regionalliga Mitte (Central) LASK Linz faces a team, which will have a difficult season in 2014/15. LASK on the other side wants to get back to Austrians highest league as fast as possible, so will see if they can play for the title in Erste Liga or not.
After LASK didn´t get a license from Austrian Bundesliga in April 2012 the team was relegated to Regionalliga Mitte (Central) and forced to play in this amateur league (most of the teams in Regionalliga are amateur teams, as the players are having another job, but some teams and the second team of Bundesliga and Erste Liga clubs are professional teams). As a professional team it was just a question of time for LASK to advance to Erste Liga and with it to professional football.
Last season LASK won Regionalliga Mitte with comfortable advanteage due to a high qualitative squad with many players with Erste Liga or Bundesliga experience. With Öbster, Hammerer or Hieblinger players with over 60 Bundesliga appearences play in this team. But this isn´t enough: some players with much experience and quality are just transferred to LASK: Erbek (more than 30 games in Bundesliga, many more in Erste Liga), Neuhold (over 30 games in Erste Liga), Hinum (over 150 games in Bundesliga) and Dorta (over 30 games in Erste Liga). Than some players from Regionalliga Mitte are new, most from cooperating club Pasching. In preseason friendlies also some good results were there: against Austria Wien (Bundesliga) a 2-0 win. Another friendly to mention is a 2-5 loss vs Celtic Glasgow (1-1 HT). A few days ago LASK won 4-1 against Regionalliga club Seekirchen in Austrian ÖFB Cup.
Kapfenberg had make some changes after last season, due to finacial problems. So the budget is lower and many players left, and many came. All in all 18 players left the club so far and 15 are new, but 12 of those players are from lower league (9 players from third, 5 from 4th league and one player from a lower league). Under the players who left, there are many keyplayers, like captain and playmaker Sencar, defender Sharifi, offensive players Bingöl, Lendric and Osman Ali. It is hard to predict, how the team will find together and where they will stay in the end, but for me a position between 6-8 will be the result. The first friendly in preseason wasn´t such bad as i would have thought. The first game was a 1-1 draw against Bundesliga club Admira, but then there were losses vs. Bundesliga club Wr Neustadt and Sturm, both 1-3 and 1-5 vs Red Bull Leipzig (2nd Bundesliga Germany).
I expect a very tough match here, but LASK with more advanteges here. They have home advantage and they are the promoted team, so maybe a performance boost, as the most teams, which just got promoted have. They have high aims for the season and the squad has a bit more quality than Kapfenbergs in my opinion.
