Argentina
VS
Switzerland
Argentina have won all their three matches in the group stage against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria, scoring 6 goals while conceding 4 goals. The most important thing is that their best player Lionel Messi has been much in form because they heavily rely on him. He scored at least a goal in all of the group stage matches. Manchester City's forward Sergio Aguero is injured but he has not been in form lately and he will not be too missed as PSG's forward Ezequiel Lavezzi will most likely take his place in a three-men attack along with Messi and Higuain.

Probable Line-Up:

Argentina: Romero (GK); Rojo, Garay, Fernandez, Zabaleta, Mascherano, Gago, Di Maria, Messi, Higuain, Lavezzi

Switzerland started the World Cup with a win over Ecuador after they were trailing 0-1 at half time. But they managed to overturn the score in the second half as they scored an early goal in the second half and another goal in the closing stages of the game to win it 2-1. Their second game was a big disappointment against France as they lost heavily (2-5). However, they bounced back against Honduras (0-3). The defence of Switzerland looks very shaky at the moment, especially the goalkeeper. In fact, against France the Swiss goalkeeper (Benaglio) had a very poor performance as he was fully to be blamed for the first two goals the team conceded. Also, against Honduras, he badly miskicked a clearance. Honduras lack quality but a stronger team would have easily punished Switzerland for such silly mistakes.

Probable Line-Up:

Switzerland: Benaglio (GK); Djourou, Schar, Rodriguez, Inler, Behrami, Lichtsteiner, Mehmedi, Shaqiri, Xhaka, Drmic

Both teams do not look solid at the back, I believe it will be more difficult for Switzerland to stop the deadly attack of Argentina with Messi, Higuain, Di Maria, Lavezzi, etc. Argentina can concede goals as well but their attack will most likely compensate for it by scoring more goals. I don't think there will be extra time in this game and in my opinion, Argentina will do enough to win this match in normal time. Switzerland have never defeated Argentina with two games ending in draws and the other four matches all ended in a win for Argentina.

The World Cup matches are difficult to predict, especially when you hear about match fixing taking place in some of the games and we have also seen the terrible performances of referees. In the end, money talks. But under normal conditions, I think Argentina should win.
