This is the last test-match of the summer for both national teams.
South Africa played two test-matchs against Wales, they won easily the first one by 22 points, but won miraculously the second test by one point last week. This last performance was very disappointing, Springboks didn't respect welshs to my mind, they probably thought that it will be another easy win, we saw too many relaxation and then many mistakes.
Knowing the character of their heacoach Meyer, I am pretty sure that he didn't enjoy the match and slightly yelled on his players, so I expect South Africa to react today.
For this match, Meyer chose to rotate his team and put many fresh young guys. At first view we can think that the team is less good without couple of the best players, but I think that it won't be the case today, because if we look carefully, most of the players who are rotated are the one playing in Europe (Habana, Botha, Louw, Steyn etc) and then who were coming after a long and tiring season in France or England. Today, except Du Preez and Kirchner, all the players are coming from Super Rugby, so they are in super shape because this is the middle of the season for them, and some substituted players will definitely have to show themselves if they want to participate to the next Rugby Championship.
Moreover, interested thing is that Meyer named an offensive team, indeed naming of young fly-half Pollard is a sign that the Boks will try to attack a lot and this isa good thing to my mind because the Scots are good when they have the ball but this is opposite when they have to defend.
Scotland has a new headcoach since this Summer, indeed great ex-headcoach of Clermont Vern Cotter is the new coach of Scotland, I expect Scotland to have good results on the future with him, but for now, this is complicated for the players because they have now to use to a new offensive and defensive system.
The three test-matchs of the Summer showed some weaknesses/mistakes from the Scots, which is normal of course. Scotland still won its 3 tests, but it was against poor adversity (USA, Canada, team B of Argentina) and it was very difficult for the 2 last matchs because they won by only 2 points.
For this match, Vern Cotter also chose to make some changes, it looks like a trial team, so I am not sure that there are good changes knowing that this is South Africa in front of them, because Cotter decide to play without most of the experienced players (Richie Gray, Hamilton, Laidlaw, Visser, Lamont etc) and even names a total unexperienced player as number 8, not a gift to put him against the powerful south african forwards.
Moreover, I am not convinced that the duo of half Weir and Pyrgos can lead correctly the scottish backline, I am even surprised to see than Finn Russell who is in super shape wasn't named instead of Weir who often makes mistakes during big matchs.
So, I think that it will be a very difficult match for Scotland, I think that Springboks will demolish them.
