Italy vs Costa Rica by JerryDrake
Stadium: Arena Pernambuco, Recife
Group D standings
1st place: Costa Rica 3 points (3/1, +2, 1 match played); 2nd place: Italy 3 points (2/1 +1, 1 match played), 3rd place: Uruguay 3 points (3/4 -1, 2 games played), 4th placed: England 0 points (2/4 -2, 2 games played).
Nothing is decided yet
As you can see by reading the standings, nothing is sure yet. Every team can still qualify and the only sure thing is that England can not qualify as 1st placed. But England must hope that Italy will win both their games with Costa Rica and Uruguay and then they must defeat Costa Rica too with as many goals as possible.
Line-up changes for Italy
Italian coach Prandelli will make some changes after the triumph with England: Buffon/Sirigu, Abate/Paletta, Thiago Motta/Verratti. All these changes and the positive critics for Prandelli remind me of 1996 when Italy defeated Russia in England and Sacchi, in the highest moment of self-confidence, decided to change 4-5 players. Italy lost to Czech Republic and was then eliminated by Germany (0-0 and a penalty missed by Zola).
No changes for Costa Rica
Different situation for Costa Rica. All players who obtained the historical victory against Uruguay are confirmed and all of them will face Italy. The Italian newspapers have already written a lot about how dangerous could be Campbell, Ruiz and Bolanos. The referee will be Osses, from Chile, if I well remember he was in charge of Italy - Mexico last year in the Confederations Cup where he made many mistakes in the first half.
ITALY (4-1-4-1): 1 Buffon; 7 Abate, 15 Barzagli (19 Bonucci), 3 Chiellini, 4 Darmian; 16 De Rossi; 6 Candreva, 21 Pirlo, 5 Thiago Motta, 8 Marchisio; 9 Balotelli. Coach: Prandelli. Reserves: 12 Sirigu, 13 Perin, 2 De Sciglio, 19 Bonucci, 20 Paletta, 14 Aquilani, 18 Parolo, 23 Verratti, 10 Cassano, 11 Cerci, 17 Immobile, 22 Insigne.
COSTA RICA (5-4-1): 1 Navas; 16 Gamboa, 6 Duarte, 3 Gonzalez, 4 Umana, 15 Diaz; 10 Ruiz, 5 Borges, 17 Tejeda, 7 Bolanos; 9 Campbell. Coach: Pinto. Reserves: Pemberton, Cambronero, Acosta, Myrie, Barrantes, Francis, Granados, Brenes, Miller, Calvo, Urena, Cubero.
I predict a tough game for Italy. Prandelli will want his players to keep ball possession through Pirlo and Thiago Motta but the Central Americans will run a lot tonight and they will be ready to give everything without calculations. If Italy win by one it will be a perfect result for Italy. Not easy! I take „both teams to score (goal/goal)“ and a correct score. 3-2 Borges, De Rossi, Balotelli, Campbell, Insigne
Both teams to score (G/G), odds: 2.05 BetVictor, stake: 7/10
Correct score: Italy 3-2, odds: 32.00 Sbobet, stake: 1/10
