Belgium vs Algeria by Kamlesh

Belgium have been in good form in their last 3 friendlies before the World, defeating Luxembourg (5-1), Sweden (0-2) and Tunisia (1-0). They have improved both defensively and offensively. They adopt an attacking philosophy of football as Belgium coach Marc Wilmots stated in his last press conference.

The squad includes many quality players notably goalkeeper Courtois who enjoyed a fantastic season with Atletico Madrid (named the best goalkeeper for 2013-14 Spanish League season); Manchester City captain defender Kompany; Arsenal captain defender Vermaelen; striker Lukaku who enjoyed a fantastic season with Everton, scoring many goals for them; Chelsea's best player playmaker Eden Hazard and many more. Belgium also impressed in the qualification stages of the World Cup, with 8 wins and 2 draws in 10 games and they finished top of the group ahead of second placed Croatia.

Probable Line-Up:

Belgium: Courtois (GK); Alderweireld, Kompany, Vermaelen, Vertonghen; Fellaini, Dembele, Witsel; Hazard, Lukaku, Mirallas

Algerai did well in their last 3 friendlies defeating Slovenia (2-0), Armenia (3-1) and Romania (2-1). However, these teams are rather weak. In 2010 World Cup, Algeria did not score any goal and were eliminated in the first round itself. Most of the players lack experience in the team. Tottenham's Nabil Bentaleb (19 year midfielder) and Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli (midfielder) are the key players for Algeria. However, Nabil Bentaleb enjoyed a poor season in Premier League and was largely criticized for his performances.

Probable Line-Up:

Algeria: M’Bolhi (GK); Mostefa, Bougherra, Cadamuro, Ghoulam; Taider, Medjani, Bentaleb; Soudani, Djabou, Feghouli

Belgium seem to have too much quality for Algeria to be able to handle them. With so many big names in the Belgium team from goalkeeper's position to defence, midfielder and attack, they are expected to gain an easy win here over Algeria. Besides, if we were to believe the Belgium's coach, the team is completely ready for this match. In fact, he said: "We did a video analysis of the last 10 games to know every starting XI. I know about each player individually and in which system they played. So we’re ready, we know everything about Algeria, the strengths and weaknesses of each player."

In my opinion, Belgium will win both the first half and the second half.
