Valerenga vs Aalesund by 20legend
Valerenga has done very well this season as they are in 4th place with 5-4-2 and 19 points. Their coach Kjetil Rekdal has transformed this team into a winning team, but that is certainly because of his brilliant signings this winter. Their striker Vidar Orn Kjartansson (11/11) and defender Rasmus Lindkvist (11/4) has scored 4 goals. This means that the two newest signings has scored 15 of Valerenga’s total 21 goals this season. That is both a good thing in terms of choosing the right signings, but a weakness in terms of no other threats towards goal and an injury to Kjartansson will be a nightmare for them at the moment. However, Valerenga has been better at home (3-2-0 and 12:4 on goal difference) than away (2-2-2 and 9:10 on goal difference).
Defender Andre Muri (4/0) is out with a concussion, winger Diego Calvo (7/0) is prepairing for the WC with Costa Rica and is unavailable while midfielder Kristoffer Haestad (0/0) got his contract terminated in order to help the club with their financial problems, and got his last game for the club in the cup-match against Lyn (5-2) during mid-week.
Aalesund has been one of the biggest dissapointments this season together with Haugesund. They are in 13th place with eight points after 1-5-5 and only one point away from the rock bottom position. Things do not work in their offensive play especially, and their performances at home have been most dreadful (0-3-3). The only positive thing lately is their advancement in the Norwegian Cup against Kristiansund (0-1) during mid-week. Their best player and midfielder Michael Barrantes (8/1) is preparing for the WC with Costa Rica, while striker Leke James (6/0) is back after injury for Aalesund.
Anything but a home win here in this match should be impossible giving both teams status at the moment. Valerenga has been entertaining to watch at Ullevaal Stadium this season and I definitely think that it will continue in this game. Aalesund has let in 6 of 14 goals away from home this season, while Valerenga has scored 12 of 21 goals at home. The home team’s coach Kjetil Rekdal was the former Aalesund coach, but got fired because of his hard leadership, and he will certainly knock Aalesund further down is possible tonight. I think that Kjartansson will too much of a threat for the visitor’s defense, and I expect Valerenga to win. However, I think the value of Valerenga to score in both halves is a more tempting option and that will be my pick for this match.
