The odds market took my attention on this friendly game. Why are the odds dropping down for Austria if they only obtained a draw with Iceland? I made a research and I tried to answer this question.
Czech Republic played a friendly in Finland: 2-2 in Helsinki on May 21. Austria drew 1-1 with Iceland at Tivoli Stadion in Innsbruck. In that friendly many regular players started from the bench or did not play a single minute: goalkeeper Almer, central defender Prödl, Bologna defender Garics, striker Andreas Weimann (but Marc Janko played) and defender Emanuel Pogatetz.
Austria stronger tonight
Austria will miss Bayern star Alaba. But I consider the Czech missing players more important as they are without Cech, Rosicky, Lafata, Kadlec and many others.
In their last 6 friendlies Czech Republic are undefeated: 3 wins and 3 draws. Austria won only one in their last 6 friendlies, drawing 2 and losing 3. Austria played a good qualification campaign and I consider Koller to be the best coach of the Austrian team of the last two decades. I bet on Austria to win covered by the possible draw (Asian Handicap 0:0).
