BW Linz vs Sturm Graz II by Goleador
Austria, Regionalliga Mitte (Central)
Blau-Weiss Linz - Sturm Graz II
2 gamedays before the end of the season both teams are without any chance for promotion and there is also no danger of beeing relegated, as BW Linz is placed 7th, three points behind 6th Sturm II.
BW Linz will start a big change in the summer break. A new coach (Wahlmüller, at the time St. Florian coach) will form a new team for next season and many transfers are expected, to reach a top 3 spot next season. BW Linz played in Erste Liga in seasons 11/12 and 12/13, but they couldn´t keep their place in league and were relegated. After those changed another promotion is the big goal. So at the time it´s about to chose the players to stay and to leave for this project. They have many experienced players, who played in Erste Liga like Rabl, Misic, Nikolov and with Bubenik a captain, who also played in Bundesliga a few years ago with LASK Linz, but also Spreco, who played in Slovinian 1st and 2nd league is an important player. These are maybe the most nameable players so far. Nikolov, Arapovic and Misic have got a new contract in the last days, so they will stay in the team. Also young key players Babler and Maier are engaged for the next season. After a three games without a win, BW Linz won last weekend against 2nd placed team Pasching with a clear 4-2 win. They showed a strong performance and took a 4-0 lead, but in the end they conceded two goal, maybe they weren´t 100% concentrated after such a high lead.
Sturm had two games in the last week: Last weekend they could get a 2-2 draw vs leader and also champion of Regionalliga Mitte LASK Linz. But when LASK knew they would be the team, which plays for Promotion (because 2nd Pasching didn´t apply for Erste Liga license) the performances of the team got weaker, so the draw should not be overrated. During the week Sturm II had to play against 2nd, Pasching, and was defeated 7-1. At the beginning an equal game, until Minute 35 (when Pasching scored 2-1. But then Pasching played and scored, played and scored.. and won. The main reason therefore, and also a good reason for this bet is, that Sturm II will play with many young players. After the pros and young pros from Bundesliga team (first team), who also played sometimes of second team are on vacation, the second team plays with a very young squad. Against Pasching there were only two players, who are older than 20. In the lineup there were three 17yr olds.
For me BW Linz wants to show a last good performance at home, also a small party will be made after the game. I hope about 500 spectators will come to support them. Sturm II with a very young and unexperienced squad for the last three gamedays in Regionalliga Mitte.
