Tennis ATP, Madrid (clay)

First Round

Radek Stepanek is weak on clay as we know, he doesn't have the tennis to play well on this surface, but he is more poor on his ending of career, he has very few wins last 3 years if we except his wins czech Challenger's tournaments, indeed only couple of wins against Youzhny, Tomic or Karlovic, knowing that the last 2 guys are also terrible on clay.

Kevin Anderson is also weak on clay, but I would say that he is less weak than Stepanek and especially that he is improving since 2 years, he moves better on the clay court and he is slightly more able to put his offensive tennis well. He lost his two first matchs on clay in 2 sets against Hanescu and Monfils, I watched both matchs and I didn't find that Anderson made a bad match, I think that he played quite well by resisting pretty well on his baseline (for a tall player) but unfortunately for him, he lost his serve too early in both matchs. But as I said, this isn't bad performances to my mind, and knowing that Hanescu and Monfils are solid on their baselines (when they want), and Stepanek definitely doesn't have the same solidity on his baseline.

So, I think that Kevin Anderson will have less troubles to keep his serve while I think that he can be dangerous on Stepanek's serve if he repeats what he did against Hanescu and Monfils especially during second set on both matchs.

So, I think that Kevin Anderson will win this match, I try his win in 2 sets.
