Juventus vs Benfica by JerryDrake

Tonight Juventus have the chance to qualify for the Europa League final. Benfica won the first round in Lisbon (2-1), this means that Juve can qualify only with a victory: 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 3-1 or more. In case of 2-1 there will be extra time. Benfica qualify through a draw, a victory or even by losing by one by scoring more than one goal: 2-3, 3-4 or more.

I already wrote a lot about the motivations of the Italian club and players (see all my old previews on the Lyon games and on the Lisbon match): the achievement of this final would be the first big International result since Andrea Agnelli took the leadership of the club.

I have read a lot about the Portuguese fear that UEFA is going to prefer Juventus as finalist rather than Benfica. I can agree that some businessmen at UEFA would prefere Juventus in the final and that Michel Platini waits since long to see his (and my) Juve in an important final but I also know that Platini is a person with good principles and fairness. And all Italians (Juve fans and other fans as well) can only confirm it.

I wrote once that 'the Old Lady has a date and she will not be late (I meant with the final and Platini). This does not mean that the Old Lady pays (or get paid) for it. If Juventus is la 'Vecchia Signora', Platini is a gentleman and all people in Europe should read mre about him or see videos and interviews of the 80s. We are not talking about a man like Blatter who eliminated Italy and Spain from the World Cup 2002 just to make more money with South Korea. Platini will make sure that everything will be fair tonight and if it will be Benfica to win he will be present at the Portuguese-Spanish final. Not like Blatter in 2006 when he preferred to visit Zidane instead of giving the Italian players the cup.

So forget about Benfica crying. In football this pre-crying never takes nothing with it. In football first you play and after you can saysomething. Tonight there will not be Byron Moreno as referee nor Blatter as bookwriter of the game, dear readers.

Tonight there will be a real semifinal where Juventus will win (as often happened in Europe) or will lose (Juventus defeats in important European games are famous, but this happens usually in the Champions League). Nothing more, nothing less. In Reggio Emilia, even against a weak team like Sassuolo, Juventus have shown that they are serious in all competitions. The players gave their best and won. My Juventus preview received 24 dislikes plus one after the winning bet. My correct score tonight: 3-0 Llorente, Llorente, Tevez

I bet on Juventus to win by more than one. If they win by one I get my stake back. Perfect odds, full stake.

This bet looks really attractive but the latest match of Benfica with Porto in which they managed to defend for almost 60 minutes in 10 players makes me think that it will be really hard for juventus to win by 2+...anyway it's worth a try...best of luck

In Turin there will be Benfica. Put yourself in the place of 22 players who last year lost the Europa League, Championship and National Cup. in their place I would be very angry. Juve in Europe does not have help from anyone and it is for this reason alone that wins very little. I am aware that the truth hurts, but this is no other explanation. (translaction google) however my prediction is where I put my money goals. I also try bet Hoord :)

@Mihnea Benfica actualy suffered a lot in that game (the game for this portuguese cup was the interesting one, dominating with 10 players porto's side) with Jackson Martinez (should go to one of the bigs) failing the goal severall times, but they should've won it easy ;)

@Jerry I agree with your assesssment, Juventus will have to win (I just hope it's by 3-2 =P) but they have enough home quality to decide this round (hopefully only in field lol) with an amazing team that it's just not used to playing in Europe anymore, but they are gaining experience to become one of the contenders for

Mihnea: good oveservation but Quarela is not Pogba or Vidal, Quintero is not Tevez.
Ty Pitja. Hoord: good idea. Luigi: do you have a favorite team?

Juventus didn't convince me in the first leg. So this time I am not backing them. I will wait and see. Good luck Jerry.

The tribute will be on May 4. Grande Torino. There is an Italian TV movie about Torino, with Giuseppe Fiorello. I suggest you to look for it in Youtube, wonderful. For those who understand Italian.

PS: If Platini was not enough for the motivation, now we have even Diego Armando Maradona on pur side! TY Tevez! :)

I'm not a fan of neither team, I was 10 years ago, but today football is very dirty and you can not have a faith.
