Stanislas Wawrinka had problems to "digest" his fantastic win of Australian Open, indeed his tournaments of Indian Wells and Miami were very disappointing, but now I think that we will find back the best Wawrinka during this first big tournament on clay of the season. Wawrinka often had good results on this tournament on the past, indeed he beat Murray last season, beat Federer couple of years ago (his only win against him in so many meetings), besides the last three players who beat him during this tournament are Tsonga last year who was playing great, Nadal two years ago, and Djokovic before, that is to say top players of ATP.
He will play against Marin Cilic. Although Cilic lives in Monaco, he never had great results here or at least made one surprise. Indeed he often loses against someone better (ranked) than him or against a specialist of clay. Yesterday for the first round, I found his match not very good against Matosevic, indeed I would expect him to win in 2 sets against the australian player who is poor on clay but he dropped one set.
Moreover, even if the H2H is a little old, Wawrinka has the advantage because he leads 3-0 on clay, and the interesting thing is that Cilic won only one set during those 3 meetings (among them, one during French Open) and it was in Umag, the croatian tournament where Cilic is usually performing.
So, I think that Wawrinka will win this match, and I will try his win in 2 sets.
