Udinese vs Juventus by JerryDrake
Home, sweet home
Before goalkeeper Scuffet made his debut with Udinese at the age of 17 on Feb. 1st (Bologna - Udinese 0-2), Udinese used to concede too many goals at home. With Simone Scuffet Udinese played 5 Serie A games at „Stadio Friuli“, winning 4, drawing 1 and conceding only 1 goal against Atalanta. Scuffet was born in Udine. I start thinking he must have been born at the pitch of the stadium. For sure, „Stadio Friuli“ has become or has always been his home and there the doors are now difficult to unlock.
Buffon, Zoff, Scuffet and the World Cup
There are just too many similarities between Scuffet and two of the greatest Italian goalkeepers in football history. Buffon made his debut with 17 too (Parma - Milan 0-0, season 1995-96) and in a short time he became the best. Dino Zoff started his great carreer with Udinese as well. Scuffet lives 25 kilometers away from the hometown of the 1982 World Champion and like Buffon and Zoff he could soon be playing for Juventus. Scuffet can even achieve something that Zoff and Buffon have not achieved: to play the World Cup at the age of 17. Prandelli could invite him in Brazil as third (or second) goalkeeper. Buffon declared that Scuffet deserves to be in the Azzurri squad. He could not find better sponsors.
Bianconeri vs. Bianconeri
For now the model of Scuffet remains Samir Handanovic. It was Handanovic to obtain the last two home victories against Juventus in Udinese history. The two Bianconeri teams have met 84 times where Udinese won 11 and Juventus 54. If we count only the matchs played in Udine we can only register a Juventus supremacy: 5 wins for Udinese, 14 draws and 23 wins for Juventus.
Udinese coach Guidolin won only once against Antonio Conte out of 8 meetings while Conte has never lost to Udinese (5-2-0). To make these statistics even more terrific for Udinese is the balance of Conte in all Serie A games played in April: 11 wins, no draws, no defeats. Not enough? Juventus scored almost double as Udinese (69 goals Juventus, 35 Udinese) and conceded the half of the goals (22-44).
While Scuffet can already start learning Portuguese for his Brazilian adventure, Juventus players and coach Conte are learning Portuguese for the Europa League semifinal with Benfica. After the Serie A games with Udinese on Monday and with Bologna on Saturday, Juventus will travel to Lisbon. Conte will want his team to keep a good advantage on Roma (as they will meet in the 37th round in Rome) and, at the same time, give some players a round of relax. Tevez, Bonucci and Vidal could sit on the bench tomorrow.
Udinese will miss only suspended player Badu and injured midfield player Lazzari. Another midfield player, Pinzi, was doubt until today but he should now be available. Defender Domizzi was also doubt but he is available too. Former Napoli and Granada player Yebda should take the place of Badu while in the attack Di Natale will make his return after a short injury.
Juventus miss Barzagli, well substituted by Caceres until now. Llorente should be in the starting line-up together with Sebastian Giovinco at the place of Tevez. Giovinco played well recently and soon we could see him scoring again. Last time Udinese and Juventus met in Udine Giovinco scored twice.
The best way to select a bet sometimes is to start excluding the outcome you dont expect to succeed. I exclude Udinese to win and I exclude also the draw. Juventus under Conte is like a Prussian soldier under Bismark, or an Austrian under Radetzsky if you prefer: you must do what he says. And he wants to keep Roma distant, even though he will decide to moves some soldiers from the pitch to the bench and back. For this bet I dont suggest an AH-1 or EH-1 as I think that Juventus could win only by one. All the tickets belonging to Udinese have been sold and the stadi
