Sevilla is in a totally different position as they are in 5th place with 53 points. They are fighting with 4th placed Athletic Bilbao (59 points) on the important 4th place that give Champions League qualification. They have been in very good form for a long time now with 7-0-1 in their last eight games in La Liga. They also crushed FC Porto 4-1 at home in midweek which gave them 4-2 on aggregate and the possibility to meet Valencia in the Europa League Semifinals. The midfielder Sebastian Cristoforo (12/0) and striker Denis Tcheryshev (4/0) are out for the visitors.
Real Betis has clearly been the worst team in La Liga this season and they have only got 4-3-9 and 15:25 on goal difference at home. Sevilla has improved a lot away from home since last season, but they are still up and down with 6-5-5 and 26:27 on goal difference this season. Sevilla has lost their last two games away from home against Celta Vigo (1-0) and FC Porto (1-0), but before that they beat three of the struggling teams against Rayo Vallecano (0-1), Almeria (1-3) and Osasuna (1-2). Both teams met two times in the Europa League in March, were Real Betis shocked Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan with a 0-2 win. However, Sevilla won the 2nd leg by 0-2 and took advantage in the penalty shootout. This is a derby between two teams from the same city, but I will still fancy the visitors today, even if Real Betis will do everything to destroy Sevilla’s dream for a 4th place. Sevilla has the momentum in their play these days, and I predict them to take the three points today, as this game is a must-win if they should get the 4th place.
