Derby vs Huddersfield by 20legend
It is another important match for Derby as they welcome a totally out-of-form Huddersfield to Pride Park this afternoon.
Derby has not given up the promotion spot which belongs to Burnley in 2nd place with 83 points. Derby is 3rd with 72 points which means that they must win all the remaining games of the season if it should be any chance of catching them. They have been a solid home team this season with a total 11-4-5 record, and they have also kept a clean sheet in five of their six latest fixtures at Pride Park. The important midfielder Jamie Ward is expected to return today, while Simon Dawkins is still out.
Huddersfield seems broken at the moment. They are in 17th place with 46 points, which gives them only a seven-point gap down to relegation with five games left of the season. With their current form with 0-3-5 from the last eight games, it is no doubt that they could be relegated if things do not turn around very soon. Midfielder Keith Southern and striker James Vaughan are both out for this match. It is a possible scenario that their coach Mark Robbins will make some alterations in his lineup, after going eight games without a win.
Both teams really have something to play for, but it looks like it is only Derby who actually understands it. Huddersfield has a hard time on turning things around and Pride Park should not be the day to manage that. Huddersfield has a total 4-5-11 away from home this season, and with Derby’s current form and aim for Burnely in 2nd place, I expect the home side dominate from start to finish today and score in both halves.
