Southampton
VS
Cardiff
Southampton has been very impressive this season as they are in 8th place with 48 points so far. They was able to fight for the top 6 for a long time, but it seems impossible now with just five games left and 11 points up to 6th placed Tottenham. However, they will be more interested in revenging the loss against Manchester City (4-1) last weekend. The result was clearly lying, as The Saints produced a lot in the first half, but got two goals against in the additional minutes of the first half. Their top scorer, Jay Rodriguez (33/15), injured himself badly as he landed with a twist on his knee and will be out for six months. Midifelder Gaston Ramirez (17/1) and keeper Artur Boruc (25 games) will be evaluated before today’s game, while keeper Kelvin Davies (2 games) and Maya Yoshida (8/1) are out.

It is obviously what Cardiff is searching for when they pays a visit to St. Mary’s to face Southampton this afternoon; three points. The facts are clear as Cardiff is 19th with 26 points, they have a six-point gap up to the secure 17th place held by Norwich. However, there is a chance for Cardiff as Fulham (18th) takes on Norwich (17th) today as well. If there should be a draw in this game, Cardiff will go past Fulham and only have four points up to Norwich. Norwich has the worst program in the remaining round as they shall meet Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. That little hope should be enough to encourage them to give it all in their remaining rounds.

However, it is a big blow for The Bluebirds that Craig Noone (17/1) will probably miss the rest of the season with his abdominal injury. Noone has been one of Cardiff’s best players this season and his offensive attributions will be truly missed. Their striker Kenwyne Jones (8/1) is doubtful ahead of today’s game, and Peter Whittingham (27/2) will be his replacement if necessary.

This could get ugly for Cardiff. As they lost a shocking 0-3 against Crystal Palace at home last weekend, you could really see the players just losing it as the goals poured in. Southampton still has a lot to show as some of their players like Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw are all in the discussion for a trip to the World Cup with England this summer. The value of keeping on and show themselves in a game like this could therefore be a very valuable asset when Roy Hodgson shall select his men. If The Saints should get a quite early lead today, I think that the same would happen to Cardiff as it happened against Crystal Palace. Only this time it could be a lot worse as Southampton is a far better team. My pick will be Southampton to score at least three goals here and dominate completely.

No Kingtappa. It is as Goran says: Southampton to score at least three goals themselves. Example: 3-0, 3-1 and so on.
