Peer vs Giorgi by Tennisguy

This is a quarterfinal match from the Katowice WTA tournament between Shahar Peer from Israel and Camilia Giorgi from Italy.

Peer is ranked 90 and Giorgi 69. They haven't met in a h2h match before.

This is a risky bet but I think 5 units is worth it because Peer played some good tennis this week. Giorgi is a nice offensive player but she is very unpredictable and can loose to anybody if her shots are not working(as she really does not have a backup plan).

Peer won in the previous rounds against Petra Martic 6-4, 6-4 and Tsvetana Pironkova 6-2, 6-1. In her match against Pironkova she looked as well as she did a couple of years ago when she was ranked nr.11 in the world. Her service was good in both matches but what really impressed me was the accuracy and aggressiveness that she was managing with her shots. I feel that if she plays like she did with Pironkova she has a good chance in this quarterfinal.

Giorgi is a very nice player to watch when her game is working. She goes for a lot of winners but also commits a lot of unforced errors. She got to the QF by defeating Katarzyna Piter 6-0, 6-1 and Roberta Vinci 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-0. She played well but in the second part of the second set she started to make one unforced error after another which in term lost her the set. She did recover in the third but to be fair Vinci looked really tired and was moving very slow.

There is a risk here because if Giorgi play at her highest level it will be very hard for Peer to counter. That being said the odds of 4 on Peer seem a little high and well worth the risk, considering she also played some good tennis this week and she's a very experienced player.

Unfortunately for this pick Giorgi played at her highest level and Peer didn't really stand a chance.
