UCD vs Dundalk by 20legend

UCD
VS
Dundalk

UC Dublin has brought some more stable results over the last four games, after losing their first three games this season. After victories against Athlone (2-1), Bray Wanderers (3-5) and a draw against Limerick (1-1), UC Dublin got their fourth loss this season against Shamrock (2-0) last Monday. They have scored almost as the top teams so far with 10 goals in 6 games, but their defensive attributes have not been at the same level with 13 goals in the number of games. This is the result of their style of playing, as their new manager Aaron Callaghan has brought an attractive and expansive football to the team that ended up in 9th place last season. Midfielder Ayman Ben Mohammed (5/1) is injured for the UC Dublin.

Dundalk has really got going this season with a brilliant 4-1-1 record from their first six games so far. Dundalk is currently in 2nd place on equal point with the league leaders Cork City, but they have a game in hand and a better goal difference. Dundalk did also beat last year’s league champions, St.Patricks with a strong and impressive 1-4 result two weeks ago. Their only loss so far came against Drogheda (4th) in the opening game.

With a quite deep squad, Dundalk is also tending to change some players within their lineups as they have already played 11 games this season, as they are a part of the Setana Sports Cup as well. Midifelder John Mountney (5/1) is their only doubtful player. However, they get back the midfielder-duo Darren Meenan (6/0) and Keith Ward (0/0) that could be available.

Even if Dundalk is in a truly great form, I do not expect a clean sheet from them today. UC Dublin has done quite well over their last games and they are not afraid of attacking as mentioned. Both teams have scored in the last six of seven games against each other, while the last meeting ended 0-2 in Dundalk’s favor. The results have been rather close and the last four meeting have given two victories to both teams. I will stick with goals here and believe in at least three goals are involved in this fixture.

Nice pick. Please could you 20legend or someone else explain, why the odds on Cork City are so high?

Blabla: I actually do not know that. Cork City are in a very good form at the moment, while Sligo Rovers is in a bad form. Therefore it is a bit odd, but I have no idea actually.
