Alla Kudryavtseva vs Maria Irigoyen by Tennisguy
This is a first round match from the Bogotá WTA tournament between Alla Kudryavtseva from Russia and Maria Irigoyen from Argentina.
Kudryavtseva is ranked 117 and Irigoyen is 156. They have never met in a h2h match.
The odds are very good for Kudryavtseva in my opinion because I believe she is definitely the better player of the two. Even if she doesn't play clay that often I still find it hard to believe that she is not going to win this match against an opponent that plays mostly ITF level tournaments. Last week she managed some good matches in Charleston where she even defeated Christina McHale in two sets and eventually lost to Eugenie Bouchard. She is a good aggressive player who goes for a lot of winners but tends to exaggerate some times which in term causes her to commit unforced errors. Even so, I see her controlling most of the points both on serve and on the return of serve.
Irigoyen plays mostly ITF tournaments and usually when she tries for the WTA level tournaments she ends up loosing in the first round. She is a decent player for the level she usually plays at but that's about it I think. I can't see her having a lot of chances in this match as she is more of a "keep the ball in play" type of player. Last week she played in the Medellín ITF tournament where she lost to Irina Begu in the semifinals.
At the end of the day we have two players of different caliber. Sure I'm not saying that Kudryavtseva is incredibly good, but she has been in the top 100 at the nr. 56 spot, so that means she is a quality player. Irigoyen on the other hand currently occupies her highest position ever in the rankings, and considering she has been on the circuit for almost 10 years that says a lot for me.
I believe Kudryavtseva will control this match from start to finish and end up with a easy win.
