Bacsinszky vs Pervak by Tennisguy

This is a match from the qualifying rounds of the Katowice WTA tournament between Timea Bacsinszky from Switzerland and Ksenia Pervak from Kazakhstan.

Bacsinszky is ranked 161 and Pervak is 178. They haven't met in a h2h match until now.

Both these players where once in the top 50 but in the past 2 years have struggled a lot with their game. That being said, when they were at their best the one who in my opinion was the better of the two was Pervak.

They are both players than enjoy playing in indoor hard so this means they will probably perform at their highest level. Pervak in the previous 2 qualifying matches here managed to defeat Zuzanna Maciejewska and Arantxa Rus both in straight sets and quite easily. This year she had some injury problems in the beginning but those are probably dealt with at this moment. She is a lefty with a versatile game and a decent service that allows her to have a lot of easy points.

Bacsinszky has found some form this year by winning a couple of ITF level matches in 2014. That being said when she didn't have a lot of good opponents, and when decent competition came her way she lost quite easily. In this tournament she also played two qualif. matches that she won against Eva Birnerova and Sofia Arvidsson. She had some problems against Birnerova in the first set and got past Arvidsson(who is in a very bad form this year) easily.

I think the left handed service from Pervak will bother Bacsinszky a lot and she will probably not get a lot of brake point opportunities. That will surely give Pervak a lot of confidence and she will play much better on the return of service which in term will lead to her managing the break.

I think the odds represent some good value for Pervak, and in my opinion she has the slight edge over her opponent today.
