Rajeev Ram vs Groth by Tennisguy
This is the final of the Leon challenger between Rajeev Ram from USA and Samuel Groth from Australia.
Ram is ranked 131 in the circuit and has a 12-6 record on hard this year. Groth is nr.153 in the rankings and has a 10-8 record on hard in 2014. Rajeev Ram leads in the direct meeting 2-0.
Both players are tall players who posses a very strong service. That will probably mean that there will be a lot of short points.
To get to this final Ram has defeated the following players Tsung-Hua Yang, Kevin King, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Adrian Menendez-Maceiras. His last two opponents were quite good for this level of tournament and he managed to defeat them in straight sets so that says a lot about the good form Ram is in. He is a very offensive player that prefers to go for the winning shot rather than wait for his opponents to make the error.
Groth on his way to this final defeated Luis Platino, Yoshihito Nishioka, Austin Krajicek, Agustin Velotti. His last 3 matches were all 3 setters and all quite long so that probably means he won't be in the best physical shape for this final. He is also an aggressive player but in this tournament he made a lot of unforced errors to which in term made those matches 3 setters. He did manage to win them but overall the impression was that he is not in the best of form.
Ram already defeated Groth 2 times in their previous meetings so I really think that he is going to do it again here in this final as he is probably more rested and motivated.
