Ranheim vs Nest-Sotra by 20legend
Ranheim has really established themselves as one of the top teams in 1st Division over the years and they will certainly be among the top teams also this year. They ended in 4th place last season which gave them a playoff-chance to get promoted to Tippeligaen. However, they stood no chance against Sarpsborg 08, but they have shown what they are capable of. They have a fine mix of players with a lot of eager to win matches, which is also the reason for their offensively and entertaining style of playing. They have pretty much the same squad as last season accept from a couple of changes that means something. Michael Stilson has left of uncertain reasons, while right-winger Erlend Robertsen (loan from Bodo/Glimt) and the midfielders Vegar Voll (Levanger) and Asgeir Snekvik (Rodde) are brought in as new players. These are all great assets to the team and it will be very interesting to see how they will fit in the lineup for Ranheim.
Nest-Sotra is one of the newly promoted clubs to take on this Division. They had a magical season in 2nd Division last season where they easily secured the promotion. Their strength will be at home ground where they took 37 of 39 possible points last season, but some changes have happened since last year. Their head coach has left the team, but last years’ assistant manager has taken over the responsibility, so the formula should not be changed a lot for Nest-Sotra. Last years’ top scorer, Tim Nilsen has also left the club and went on ti Sogndal in Tippeligaen. Nilsen scored 20 goals last season and he will off course be difficult to replace.
The new players are mostly local players in the area, but also some more experienced players in Marius Hagen (Notodden), Christian Tveit (Start) and Bjarte Haugsdal (Stabaek) who have all experience from either this level or Tippeligaen.
It is the first game of a new season and things have far from settled yet, but it is impossible to see any other results than a big win for Ranheim here. They have a lot of players with experience from Tippeligaen with the former Rosenborg-duo Jo Sondre Aas (last season’s top scorer with 19 goals) and Geir Ludvig Aasen as examples. Ranheim's players know the level and I am afraid that Nest-Sotra will face a far more challenging season from game one this year. I can actually see Ranheim score at least three goals here, which will be my pick.
