No draws recently

As the Serie A season come slowly to a boring end, teams like Chievo concentrate completely in the six-points games, the games where they face the relegation rivals, the so-called in Italy „sfide salvezza“. Since their last draw in Naples at the end of January, Chievo played 10 games, winning 3 against Catania, Genoa and Bologna and losing 7. No draws also for Hellas Verona in the last 5 where they lost 4 without scoring and won with Genoa in the last match. Luca Toni scored two goals in the last 5 minutes of the game.

No draws in the „scaligeri“ derbies

Chievo and Verona played 8 derbies in Serie A and Serie B: Chievo won 4, Verona won 3 and only once it finished with a draw. Anyway, they never drew in Serie A when they met: 3-2 for Verona in 2001, 2-1 for Chievo in 2002 and 1-0 for Chievo „away“ in November, when Verona were running fast and Chievo absolutely needed a win to leave the last place, if I well remember. Chievo never drew in their last 6 home games, Verona never drew in their last 7 away matches.

Now Verona have 43 points, 6 behind Inter and 4 behind Parma, too distant from the Europa League as there are many other teams competing for it. But this does not mean that they will not be motivated. They lost the first derby and they want to take their revenge.

Chievo have 1 point over Bologna and 2 points advantage over Livorno but they know that Livorno will play in Turin with Juventus while Bologna will play in San Siro with Inter. Even if they lose, they would keep the same position in the table.

Luca Toni reached already 15 goals in this season. As soon as he scores the next one he will make a new record for Verona in Serie A: nobody ever scored more than 15 in one season with the Verona jersey. Toni is still hoping for a place in the World Cup squad and I am sure that he will be motivated today.

Unhappy children

There has been a tickets issue in the last days with Verona criticizing Chievo for raising the entrance prices. Verona managers stated that the decision taken by Campedelli (Chievo president) damage the families and the children in Verona because many will decide not to go to the stadium. Actually, I think that the children can now be more happy than before because the structures in the Italian stadiums (except at the Juventus Stadium) are obsolete and dangerous. Personally I would never take a boy under 16 to watch a match in Italy.

My bet

In this season it happened too many times: a team has the opportunity to increase an advantage and they fail. The only exceptions are Juventus and Roma. Odds are on the side of the „hungry“ team, I select the team with higher odds: they have +16 points over Chievo and more quality, plus it is a derby and they must let their fans forget the defeat they suffered in the first one. My correct score: 1-2 or 2-2.

Thank you. I would now bet Inter Ov. 2.5. Last 8 Inter at home they never scored more than 1, it's time.
