Bennetau vs Gulbis by Tennisguy
Benneteau is nr. 52 in the world and Gulbis is 22. They have met once in 2010 at the French Open in a match that Benneteau won by the retirement from Glubis when the score was 6-4, 6-2, 1-0 for the frenchman.
These two players seem to be in very good form as they both managed to get to the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells tournament last week.
Benneteau played some very good offensive tennis especially on his service, and came to the net numerous times. His volley shots were impeccable thruout the tournament and overall he showed a lot of strength on his service. He played a first round match here against Kyle Edmund and had some problems at the start when he lost the first set in a tiebreak but then recovered pretty fast and won the next two sets easily.
Gulbis in his one right had a very good tournament in Indian Wells where he eventually lost to Isner in two tiebreaks. He had some very powerful service games in that tournament with very little problems. In this match I don't see Benneteau troubling him a lot with the return so he is probably going to win most, if not all of his service games.
I can't, really see any of these players managing any early breaks so I kind of see this match going into a tiebreak if not two. Even if there is only I don't see the other set going in less than a 6-3 so it's probably quite safe to say that the over 21.5 will happen.
