McHale vs Kanepi by Tennisguy

McHale
VS
Kanepi
This is a 2nd round match from the Miami WTA tournament between Christina McHale from USA and Kaia Kanepi from Estonia.

Kanepi is ranked 25 and McHale is 57. They have met only once in a match that took place last month in Acapulco which the american won 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. That was a close match but the conditions were more favorable to McHale so that's probably one of the reasons she won.

Kanepi had a lot of medical problems last year and didn't play a lot of matches so she is still kind of in a recovery status. This year she didn't have any such problems but she seemed out of shape a lot of times. Last week she lost to Shvedova in the second round of Indian Wells but she didn't play that bad to be fair, she just met an opponent that really played some great tennis in that match. I think this is the time to show that she is fully back on track,as it is getting close to the next Grand Slam and she needs to show some good form to improve her confidence level.

McHale is a decent player when she plays well but most of the time she seems a bit fragile. Her game lacks that intensity that a player needs to climb into the top 20 at least. She had a decent year with a good tournament in Acapulco last month, where she lost in the final to Cibulkova. Last week in Indian Wells she was defeated in the 1st round by Dell'Acqua in a match that she had a lot of problems on her service games. She played a 1st round match here in Miami and managed to defeat Jie Jheng 6-4, 6-2 but also with a lot of problems on her serve.

I think Kanepi will be at full strength in this match and will overpower McHale in all departments, especially on service, and if she manages a fast break she will probably take complete control of the match and get a win.
