Newcastle vs Crystal Palace by Marcelino
Crystal Palace have their own list on unavailable players including Dwight Gayle and Chamakh. They, combined, scored 8 of 19 that Crystal Palace scored this season. Crystal Palace is, in my opinion, the worst team in the league. They are 4th from bottom, 3 points above relegation, but I think they are lucky to be that high. They are dominated in most of the matches when it comes to possession and chances, but they seem to squeek out lucky 1-0 wins every now and then to keep themselves above the relegation zone. Looking at their bright side, they tend to defend somewhat well, with a lot of players behind the ball and they do sometimes frustrate teams. They can be dangerous on the counter attacks, with Gayle, Chamakh and Puncheon, but only Puncheon will play this game.
I am backing Newcastle to win this match. The fact that Remy is missing seems to have made its impact on the odds, giving us better odds than I expected. Crystal Palace struggle to score goals, scoring only 19 goals in 29 games, lowest scoring in the league. In their away games, they only scored 6 goals this season in 14 matches, and conceeded 20. Palace are missing their top 2 goal scorers for this match and it seems like Puncheon will be their only goalscoring threat on the counter. In their match earlier this season, Newcastle won 3-0.
While Palace frustrated teams by sitting behind, I think that Newcastle will be prepared for this and keep their calm and find a way to break the Crystal Palace defense. I will simply go for the win here, but I think a bet on the handicap, -1, or ever -2 on Newcastle, are good bets as it could turn into an ugly night for Crystal Palace once they fall behind, imo.
