Honduras vs Venezuela by Kamlesh
This is the last match at home before World Cup for Honduras defender Victor Bernardez and he is determined to end with a victory. He also added: "My colleagues do not want me to retire, but it is a decision already made with my wife and family. It's my last game in Honduras with the selection and we take it seriously."
Manuel Plasencia has been placed as the interim coach for Venezuela following the departure of Cersar Farias to Tijuana. The coach is going to rotate the squad heavily as he aims to reconstruct the team. The squad will include 13 players from their domestic league and 7 from abroad and as such, they will be severely weakened. Important players like Venezuela captain and midfielder Juan Arango (Borussia Monchengladbach), co-captain and defensive midfielder Tomas Rinco (Hamburger), striker Salomon Rondon (Zenit) have all been left out. Several new faces are expected to take part in this game as they are still under probation.
Honduras are a strong home team and they even defeated United States and drew with Mexico. Venezuela have nothing to lose in this match and they are not ready as a team. Under such circumstances, Honduras should be able to get a win here with home advantage, a solid team and with players motivated to impress to retain their place in the squad as they prepare for the World Cup.
