Iraq vs China by Sureseye

Iraq sits at third in the group and needs all the three points to qualify in the group. A draw though might be enough for them to qualify as the best third-placed team across other groups. Iraqi coach Hakeem Shakir who recently guided his nation to the AFC U-22 Championship shoulders the importance of making it to the tourney proper:

“We are a former champion of Asia, so must do everything possible to qualify for Australia,” he said.

“We will prepare and plan everything for our match. We have a lot of good players and a very good team.”

China only need a draw to progress into the tournament proper. Team is buoyed by new coach Alain Perrin who has expressed confident that he can gain the desired result against Iraq.

China salvaged the much needed victory in last moments of the first leg, just like Iraq did likewise in 2011. Matches between these two in last three meetings have had only one goal at odd times of the matches. Both teams yet have another reason to first respect each other as they file out in this decider. At odd of 1.86, I’ll jump on the offer as we’ll win half of the stake in case of 1 goal in half time.
