This match is important for the relegation: Udinese collected 28 points until now, Cagliari have 25 points, 4 more than Chievo and Bologna. Udinese are undefeated in the last 4 rounds (2 wins and 2 draws) while the home team have won only once in the last 5: 1-0 against Fiorentina.
Three suspended players will not play this match: two from the Cagliari side (Conti and Ekdal) and one from the Udinese side (Domizzi). I consider Conti a crucial player in the midfield of the Rossoblu as he can be considered the leader of his team. As coach Lopez will miss another midfield player, Ekdal, he will have to find new solutions in the midfield. In the starting line-up I see number 32 Adryan but I never saw him playing.
Coach Guidolin will miss Domizzi and also Bubnjic and Lazzari. Domizzi is a regular player in the defense. In the past seasons he always made well but I saw him making some big mistakes this season. Upfront it is not clear who will play near Di Natale, one among Fernandes, Nico Lopez and Muriel. No matter who will start, I think that Muriel will surely play at least half an hour in the second half.
The appointed referee for this match is Valeri from Rome, not the most beloved one by these clubs: with him Cagliari have not won a single match in 9 games. It might just be an accident. Udinese have won only one out of 11 and here it is not an accident as Udinese lost some games in a strange way, at least when Udinese was running together with Lazio and Roma for a Champions League place. I remember him also giving a red card to Udinese goalkeeper Brkic against Juventus in September 2012. In this occasion Juventus general manager Marotta judged this sending-off as wrong.
Also for this match the stadium will not be fully available. At Sant'Elia only some sectors of the stadium will be open to spectators.
So, before giving you my verdict, I want to write about a trend trainers have in Italy. When you ask them about a match they answer always with sentences like: “This match is important”, “we have an important midfield”, “they have an important striker”. If some of these trainers read my previews, I want to suggest you this: dont use the word “important”. A striker is good, a team has a solid midfield, the match is decisive for this or that target. It is important... that you learn to talk.
In my opinion a draw would be a good results for both teams. But as Udinese are doing well recently and they have a better team which should have been in a higher position in the table, I will take Udinese with Asian Handicap 0:0. I have also a great confidence on Scuffet and defenders Heurtaux and Danilo. About Di Natale, Muriel and Lopez I dont need to write a lot: not every trainer can have such strikers all in the same team. They are “important” strikers.
My correct score: 1-2
