Before that loss against Chelsea, they were on a 20-game unbeaten run (in all competitions). Nevertheless, they still boast the best attack in England. In midweek, their match against Sunderland was postponed and as such, they will be fresher for this game against Chelsea. Leading scorer Sergio Aguero (17/15), midfielder Fernandinho (20/3) and Nastasic (13/1) remain out through injuries. Midfielders Nasri (21/4) and Garcia (17/0) are expected to be back for this game but they are likely to start from the bench.
On the other side, Chelsea find themselves on top of the Premier League after defeating Manchester City. Yet, they could only draw against relegation battler West Brom. In reality, they were missing their club captain and defender John Terry (24/2) for this match. His absence was noted as David Luiz filled that role as central defender and due to his inability to properly mark striker Anichebe (15/3), West Brom found an equalizer in the last minutes of the match. Yet, they still boast the best defence in England. Mourinho stated that John Terry will not be avaiable for this match and defender Gary Cahill (19/1) is doubtful until match kick off.
I don't really trust Mourinho's words in press conferences because, previously, many times, he stated that a certain player was not available and yet, for the match, the latter was in the line up. Otherwise, second choice midfielder Van Ginkel (2/0) is definitely out. But this does not really matter as even if he was fit, he would not have played.
The bookmakers have made Manchester City favourites to win this match and they are right to do so due to the fact that they have home advantage and they had more rest days than Chelsea. However, Manchester City have to play a very important Champions League game against Barcelona after 2-3 days (on Tuesday). The Champions League remains the priority for Manchester City and I expect them to make some changes for this FA Cup match since they will have an eye on the match against Barcelona.
Also, I expect Chelsea to field their best players as they will have a whole week to prepare for their next match (against Everton in the Premier League). Another interesting fact is that Pellegrini has defeated Mourinho only once in 9 clashes, with Mourinho coming on top most of the time. So, he knows how to overcome Pellegrini. Moreover, Jose Mourinho's Chelsea have not lost to any of the top teams in England (Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United) this season. His ability to grind out results in high-profile games deserves admiration.
Manchester City can play only one style and the manager also stated in his last press conference that he will not change his team's playing style. On the other side of the coin, Chelsea can adapt to different playing styles depending on the opponent and I think this is the advantage that Chelsea have over Manchester City. We never know which tactics will the Chelsea manager employ while Mourinho knows how Manchester City will play.
I'm going for a Chelsea win on Asian Handicap. Chelsea Asian Handicap 0. In case of draw, the stake will be refunded.
