Stoke City vs Swansea by Marcelino

Stoke-City
VS
Swansea
Stoke City are placed 13th in the Premier League. They are one of those teams that is in the bottom half of the table but avoids relegation due to their very good home form. Things seem no different this season as their away form is joint bottom with a poor 1-3-9 while they a strong side on home ground. They are tough to beat at home and give, even the top sides, a lot of trouble. Their home record stands at 5 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses. In their last 6 games, they won 3 including wins against leaders chelsea, and Man Utd last week and they lost just once against Liverpool.

Swansea, similarly, is the kind of team that relies on their home form to stay up. They used to play very effective short passing football that led to the having a lot of possession and frustrated their opponents. This led to the overachieving last year when they finished 9th and won the cup. However, their short passing style has become predictable and they have struggled this season to live up to their expectations. Their away record stands at 3 wins, 2 draws, and 7 losses and in their last 6 games, they failed to win any of them.

These 2 sides met on 5 occasions in the Premierleague, with 4 of their matches ending in a home win, while their meeting earlier this season at Swansea ended 3-3.

As the head-to-head suggests, I believe that the home advantage will play a huge role in this match and Stoke are the much more likely side to win this match. I would rate the chances of each outcome at 45% - 40% - 15%.

So it would be a bit risky betting on a win for Stoke, as a 1-1 result is quite likely, but I think a Stoke win on the AH is a very profitable bet with 1-0, 2-1, 3-1 being very probably results too.pin
