Chievo vs Lazio by JerryDrake

I start this preview by quoting the answer given by Lazio coach Edi Reja to an answer made by a journalist today as regards to the transfers market: “I did not expect Hernanes to leave and we signed no new players. Nobody wants to play for Lazio”.

There must be several reasons for this. The richest and strongest teams in Italy are others at the moment. President of Lazio Lotito is famous for his rigidity towards players and their managers. We have seen in the past Lazio players who have had big troubles with him and were not allowed to leave the team and even to play and participate at the training sessions. Examples are Mauro Zarate, now at Velez, Goran Pandev, now at Inter, Ledesma, who remained at Lazio.

The last transfers market was not easy for Brazilian midfield player Hernanes as every day there were different news for him: he leaves, he stays, he leaves in June, he stays forever. Until Inter made a better offer and Lotito accepted it. Hernanes will continue his season at Inter.

With this I dont mean to say that Lazio will lose all games from now on. They must go on with the players they have, and many of them are good ones: goalkeeper Marchetti, midfield player Candreva, German striker Miroslaw Klose. The problem is that they that some clubs strengthened their squad and Lazio did not.

Chievo have 18 points, one more than relegation and the same number of points of Bologna, which lost today to Udinese. Corini's players have not won a single games in the last 6 rounds while Lazio, 5 points behind the Europa League, are undefeated since 4.

Tradition is favourable to Lazio as they won 7 out of their 11 games played at Stadio Bentegodi against Chievo: 1 win for Chievo, 3 draws and 7 wins for Lazio.

The referee will be Carmine Russo: with him there are no draws for these teams (Chievo: 2-0-4, Lazio: 4-0-4).

Next fixtures for Chievo will be in Udine and in Turin against Juventus, this means two difficult games on the road or, better said, one difficult and one impossible game. Lazio will play the Roman derby and soon will play in Europa League.

And now the bet: Chievo has shown solidity in Naples also with a little of luck because of the many posts hit by Napoli and a little of unluck as Napoli scored the equalizer in the last minutes. They need to make points before playing in Udine and Turin. Lazio will want to continue the series of undefeated games in Serie A.

I take the draw and I back a little of Chievo in order not to lose money (and units) should Chievo play with high motivation. If Chievo win I dont lose, if they draw I win, if Lazio win I lose. Tutto chiaro? (Everything clear?)
